How to Pray

We greatly appreciate your prayers. They make a huge difference. Here are some things you can pray for over the next week.

Support – That God will bring 100% of our support in by October.
We’re at about 14% of our monthly support or $765. Now, not everyone has told us what they will be giving and not everyone has sent in their paperwork yet. So this is not an official number. We need 80% of our support in order to book tickets, but we would prefer to have 100%. We just found out that we will be living in an apartment one town over from Kandern, where the school is. This means we’ll need a car. At 80% of our budget, all of our living expenses are covered. At 100%, a car is covered. We are still praying that God will provide our support by the beginning of October, but it will definitely take a miracle!

Why BFA Is Awesome for Families

Comments Off

We’ve spent a lot of time over the past few weeks sharing with people in Northwest Arkansas about BFA and why we’re so excited about going. On Sunday we shared with our church. As I was preparing, I realized how wonderful BFA is for missionary families. I think the idea of boarding school can be kind of difficult for some people. I know the first things that pop into my head when I think of boarding school are some rich parents who don’t want to deal with their children, so they send them away to boarding school. But that’s so not Black Forest Academy.

As I’ve read through parent testimonies about BFA, I’ve realized that there are so many reasons that missionary families might decide BFA is the best place for their kids. Here are a few.

The First, Real, Crazy Day

So today was pretty crazy. Dani woke up to a giant knock on the door! I answered the door and was reminded by a friend from the worship team at church that I was late. Our alarm hadn’t gone off. I was supposed to be at church at 7:30 am. He knocked at our door at 8. So needless to say, I was pretty frantic while getting a shower, clothes, my bass and heading to the church.

This Sunday was also the day that Dani and I were supposed to talk before our home church about what we will be doing in Germany. So we needed to get up. I was very happy that they sent someone to wake us up, but was also pretty upset at myself—ugh.

The Journey’s Path: Part 4

Comments Off

This is the last post about my decision for going to Germany, and the process that I went through. I’m sure there is alot more I could talk about, but these few posts were simply a way for me to share with you my journey. There will definitely be more about what Dani and I are both going through.

Through Their Own Eyes

I love this video. It’s Black Forest Academy students expressing what the school has meant to them. It really gives you an idea of what missionary kids deal with and how BFA affects their lives. I hope this helps you understand why we want to invest in these students. This video was created by Michele Phoneix. She has been teaching at Black Forest Academy for 16 years and first came to BFA as a student.

Happy Day!

Yesterday, I got an email from Kristi, the Personnel Supervisor at BFA. She said, “The Chaplain’s Assistant role is being officially offered to you. Are you willing to accept that role?” I promptly did a little dance. Well, a mental dance.

I found out about the Chaplain’s Assistant position when we interviewed with Kristi at 6:00 AM one Thursday morning. For me, it was the best part of the interview. The job sounded perfect for me, a wonderful blend of planning, event execution and relationship building. But, someone else had originally planned to fill the position and they didn’t know whether she was coming. Yesterday I found out that the position was mine! So now, I will split my time between video and working with the Chaplain. I’m am so glad that this will be part of my work at BFA.

Help Us Do the Impossible

At BFA, school started on August 25th. Since we’re already running late, we’d like to be there as soon as possible. But there’s no way we can do that without your help. Seriously. Not lying about that.

Because 90% of BFA’s students come from missionary families, the school tries to keep their costs as low as possible. This means that all of the faculty and staff at the Black Forest Academy are missionaries and must raise their own support.

Our Needs

We need to raise $5,418 a month.

Wow! That’s a lot right? Where does all that money go?

The Big News!

We’re moving to Germany! To be missionaries! As soon as possible!

Yep, it’s true.

We have accepted positions with the Black Forest Academy as the Communications Coordinators. The Black Forest Academy (BFA) is a boarding school for missionary kids in Kandern, Germany. One of the main reasons missionaries come back from the field is because there are no educational opportunities there for their children. The Black Forest Academy provides a high-quality education for missionary kids while allowing their parents do the work God has called them to. As their mission statement says, “Black Forest Academy provides a quality, international Christian education that equips its students to influence their world through biblical thought, character, and action.”
