Fall Fill In

Fall Fill In

Well folks, it’s been a looong time since our last update. I’ll skip the list of reasons for our silence, and jump straight to the good stuff.

Summer Happened

This summer was full. We did some manual labor, had family visit, and moved twice. July was filled with an intensive German course, which gave us a little more language confidence. Wir sprechen Deutsch ein bisschen besser. (If you speak German, you may be able to tell just how little better by that sentence.)

School’s back in session!

In late August, BFA started up again. We’re so glad not to be new this year! It’s wonderful to know how BFA operates, know what all those crazy acronyms mean, and best of all, to know students! God has already blessed us with some amazing, truth-filled, life-changing conversations with students.

Israel and the Screaming Girls

Israel is coaching JV Girl’s Volleyball this year. Last year he helped out, but now he’s an official coach. This means daily practices and traveling to games every weekend. Israel seems to be uniquely equipped, by his five sisters, to deal with all the screaming involved in a six hour bus ride with 20 teenage girls. He’s very much enjoying coaching, but it makes for a very tiring schedule.

Goodbye, Baby

Goodbye, Baby

Several of you have asked how the High School Retreat went. Unfortunately, we can only tell you what we’ve heard from others, because we didn’t go.

We had another miscarriage.

I don’t really know what to say….

We were seven weeks pregnant. I’d known I was pregnant pretty much since conception. I’d felt better about this pregnancy because I’d had morning sickness. I’d even looked at names, which I didn’t do last time. The one that kept running through my head was Beatrice, which means “bringer of joy.”

BFA’s Website is Launched!

BFA's Website is Launched!

The new website for the school is now officially launched! An announcement was made to the student body before school on Monday. I say it’s about time. Dani and I are excited that it’s live. Dani, because now I will be at home more.  :-) And myself because now I feel like I have something to show for my time here. There’s still plenty that needs to be done, but it’s a great starting point. And I am hopeful that it will improve BFA’s ability to communicate.

Check it out at bfacademy.com. And feel free to let me know what you think.

A Few Snapshots

  • Coming Soon (home page advertisement)
  • Application page – link »
  • News page – link »

Designed for the weekend before the launch. It's what was shown instead of the homepage.

This is the new designed application page. The plan was to make it easier to use and to find the correct applications.

The new layout for the news page. This area is being developed, and exciting additions are coming in the next few months.

5…4…3…2…1…Getting Ready for the Launch

So I’m getting ready to launch the new BFA (Black Forest Academy) website! That’s what I’ve been doing during the beginning of this semester. Calling, emailing, talking, calling, emailing, talking, calling…that’s what I’ve been doing half the time. I’ve been collecting all the content, getting it updated, typed up, edited, and approved by all those involved. Hopefully by the time you read this post I will have most of the content ready to go, and formatted for the world to see. I’m really excited, and can’t wait to hit the launch button.

It’s been a busy last few weeks. The first week of school I had the flu. And over here, doctors don’t just hand out antibiotics for everything like in America. So I had to resort to the good ol’ juice-and-rest routine. After that I was able to start thinking clearly and got to work on finishing the website.

The Journey's Path: Part 4

This is the last post about my decision for going to Germany, and the process that I went through. I’m sure there is alot more I could talk about, but these few posts were simply a way for me to share with you my journey. There will definitely be more about what Dani and I are both going through.

The Journey's Path: Part 3

I think this next step in my journey was pretty important, and still is. I am probably going to struggle with feelings of not being the provider for my family. I know I’m supposed to trust God, but I’ve been trying to be the provider for so long now, it’s how I think.

So, I’m praying that God helps me to see that He is big (Proverbs 30) and that my eyes are opened to the flawed pursuit of stability in wealth.

The Journey's Path: Part 2

This next post I wrote after Dani and I mentally decided to go to Germany. We were still seeking God and trying to figure out if this was the right thing to do. I didn’t want to go through with this Germany thing if I didn’t feel God was leading us in that direction.

Now it totally feels like God is opening all the doors for us to go to Germany.

The Journey’s Path

The Journey's Path
Welcome to our new blog!

Over the past month I have been writing about our process, my walk with God, and our journey to Germany. I’ve been writing in anticipation that, if we felt God leading us to go to Germany and we eventually got a blog up, I would share my journey with those who might support us, who are family, or who want to just know why.
